Who am I here to help?
This is the real question entrepreneurs need to ask themselves on a regular basis.
One failure I see over and over is people and businesses spreading themselves too thin by trying to please too many different factions. Trying to be all things to, if not everybody, a lot of people.
This is a problem because you can’t be all things and you shouldn’t try to be. Trying to be all things is not only impossible, it sends a message that you are aiming for mediocrity, and mediocrity is not what we need, we need excellence. We need great stuff. We need the next great thing, and the next great thing comes from focused attention.
So, who are you here to help? Who is the audience for you, your product, or service? And while there might only be a few in that crowd, they’ll be cheering for you. They’ll be driving you to be the best at what you do. They’ll be the ones who help you find the next great iteration of that thing you do so well. That thing that helps those fans have better lives.
And what’s in it for you? You get to do it. You get to see your work make a difference. You get to see smiles on faces including your own.
Who are you here to help? It’s a question that can make all the difference for you and for those who are dying for what you have to offer. Answer it and change things for them and you.
