How to command the attention of the world.

Common. It’s what’s usual. It’s what’s ordinary.

And what do we know about ordinary? Ordinary is acceptable but not interesting. It’s a commodity.

And what do we know about commodities? They are not highly valued. Their price point is low.

So, how do we make the ordinary, the commodity, less ordinary and more valuable? How do we make it unusual, extraordinary, and something people want?

It requires distinction. It requires being recognizably different. It may be similar, but it looks, sounds, smells, tastes, and/or feels better. And people notice better because better changes things. It changes minds, viewpoints, and perspectives and may even stir the heart. But here is something you must remember. It’s not being better that’s valuable, it’s the change being better makes that is valuable.

Thus, the value key: knowing what change you seek to make. Is it to be more effective? To be easier? To be more enjoyable? You must seek out how you want to make lives better. When you know that, you can create distinction. You can become an agent of change, a true value provider.

Lesson? Never be/do ordinary. Always be/do distinct. Think change. Think improvement. Think better. Deliver life enhancement that’s noteworthy and remarkable. Be a value creator …and make it your everyday mission.

“When you can do the common things of life in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world.” -George Washington Carver
