Business is service. Service is human. Humans are the point.

Service is so much more than customer service. It is helping people accomplish things, and we do it everywhere every day. In fact, it is our human superpower; it’s how we have survived. We’re not the biggest, fastest, or strongest, so helping each other is what has kept us in the game.

We need it at home and at work. It is, in fact, essentially why our work and businesses exist—to help people solve problems and achieve objectives.

Bottom line: Business (and life) is all about helping each other succeed.

So, if you want to reach your business objectives, engage with your customers and employees. Ask questions, listen to the answers, and take action on what you learn.

If you want to lead well, be of service. Engage with your team, empower them to do what they know to do, and encourage them while they do it.

And if you want a great workplace, engage with your coworkers. Be helpful, look out for them, and celebrate their successes.

Long story short, if you want to be a successful human, learn to be of service, and learn to do it well.
